85% of people received their Third stimulus check on March. 12th. If you haven’t received your check yet make sure to watch the entire video because I’m going to breakdown what the IRS has said may be the hold up as well as how to check with the IRS on the status of your check.
How much is the third stimulus check in 2021? (1:13)
First off you’ve probably already heard that the third stimulus check is $1,400. But that’s not going to be true for everyone. $1,400 is the standard amount being issued but some people will be surprised to see that check higher or lower.
If you’re married and filed a joint tax return in 2019 or 2020, then both you and your spouse will get $1,400 bringing your total to $2,800. If you have dependents you’re going to be very happy with this stimulus bill because it more than doubles the money for dependents, compared to the first two stimulus payments that were issued. The first check gave $500 for dependents and the second was $600.
Dependents won’t receive their own checks that money will be added to the household total. The next video I release will go into detail on who is and isn’t a dependent so make sure to subscribe so you see that because they are very specific on who is and isn’t considered a dependent and there have been a bunch of changes from the last two stimulus checks.
If your filing status is single and your AGI or adjusted gross income is above $80,000 you won’t be receiving a payment. If you file as the head of household and your AGI is over $120,000 you won’t receive anything, and if you file jointly with your spouse and your combined AGI is over $160,000 you won’t receive anything either.
The IRS is basing these payments off of your 2019 or 2020 tax returns. The amount of your stimulus check is going to depend on the AGI, filing status, and dependents information on those returns.
When is my third stimulus check coming in 2021?
If that doesn’t apply to you then let’s break down when you can expect to see this check that hasn’t arrived. The first wave of payments went out March 12-14. The official payment date for direct deposit payments is March 17th but some people have said that by logging into their bank accounts have seen the payment as “pending” or “Provisional” so check your account. Don’t bother calling your bank and asking them when it’s going to land because these payments are coming from the IRS and they will have no idea.
How will you get your third stimulus check? Card, Check, Direct Deposit?
The IRS will be sending these payments out in three different ways. Direct Deposit, Direct Express debit card account, or a paper check in the mail. If you received a Direct Express debit card during the second stimulus that doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily receive it in that form again. And just because you received one of your payments through direct deposit doesn’t mean you’ll receive it that way again so make sure you’re checking your mailbox and your bank account.
If you filed your 2020 or 2019 tax returns and have a bank account on file with the IRS it’s likely that you’ll get your check within the first or second wave because they have your direct deposit info on hand. Individuals with direct deposit info already on hand are being prioritized as they try to disperse $422 billion in funds to over 100 million people.
If you haven’t received your stimulus check yet leave a comment down below and let me know your filing status if your single, filing jointly, also mention if you have or haven’t filed a tax return in 2019 or 2020. I want us as a community to get a better picture of who isn’t being included in the first waves so make sure to leave a comment below.
