In this video, we will explore What is Categorisation.
Grouping and organising things can help you improve your productivity and performance.
Categorisation is an activity that consists of putting things, such as objects, ideas, or people, into groups or categories based on their similarities or common criteria.
As humans, we sometimes do it unconsciously, for example when we group together similar tasks and then approach them in one go.
You might get the email and not deal with it instantly as you know that you will review all your email 1 hour before your lunch break.
Sometimes we categorise our time in different segments to use it in the most efficient way.
For example, my mornings are categorised as the most predictive part of the day and therefore I always plan to work on creative tasks during this time.
My afternoons are for more administrative tasks like emails and meeting and my evening are for rest and recovery.
It’s also common to categorise people in your life because and spend more time with some friends while less time with others.
This is because different people in your life have different things that they want to discuss with you.
And you most likely want to spend more time with those who are helping you to achieve your goals. While spending less time with those who are holding you back.
Categorisation simplifies our life and makes it more structured and organised but it also requires some preparation.
To put something in the category you first have to come up with categories. So be sure that you know in advance what time of the day is the most productive for you so that you can protect it.
