It is clear China is “not cooperating” with the world’s push for an independent investigation into the origins of the deadly coronavirus, according to The Australian’s foreign editor Greg Sheridan. China has rejected Australia’s call for an independent investigation into the original source of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Foreign Minister Marise Payne on Sunday announced she would push for an investigation into the genesis of the virus and Beijing’s handling of the initial outbreak.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang slapped down the proposal and accused Australia of “dancing to the tune” of the US.
Mr Sheridan told Sky News China's behaviour during the entire pandemic has been “absolutely shocking.”
“China international behaviour has been shocking,” he said.
“It is clear there was a period they knew this was a lethal pandemic and they didn’t tell the rest of the world.”
“It is clear they bullied and browbeat the World Health Organisation into making deeply damaging and dangerous recommendations.
“And it is clear they used their private companies to buy personal protective equipment.”
