On June 19th, America commemorated Juneteenth. On this day in 1865 Union soldiers rode into Galveston, Texas to tell the slaves the Civil War was over and they were free. This year, the day is particularly meaningful, as America protests racial injustice. To reflect on past, present and future, Christiane speaks with distinguished historian Eric Foner and renowned professor and author Carol Anderson. Originally aired on June 19, 2020.
