Dominic Cummings subject to 'incredibly anti-democratic authoritarian campaign'

Dominic Cummings subject to 'incredibly anti-democratic authoritarian campaign' Spiked Editor Brendan O'Neill says the attacks by the British media against one of Boris Johnson's chief political advisors Dominic Cummings is an "incredibly anti-democratic authoritarian campaign disguised as a campaign about the lockdowns".

Mr Cummings has faced increased calls to be sacked by many on the Left, members of the civil service, the Church of England, and the media after he allegedly flouted lockdown restrictions by tending to important family matters at a property in Durham.

"Many of the Left who would normally be critical of religious intrusion into political life have cheered the bishops on".

He has been accused of not quarantining when showing symptoms of COVID-19 which has since been disproven.

"What we have really seen through this is the authoritarian mindset that exists in sections of the Left who now want the church, the unelected civil service, and potentially the police to wound an elected government," he said.

Mr O'Neill told Sky News host Andrew Bolt the actions of many sects of British society is "almost tyrannical behaviour".
