How to downgrade to version 1.0 Notes:
Physical cartridge versions of the game can be downgraded.
Digital versions of the game CANNOT.
You will lose your save files. Potentially for ALL your games.
So unfortunately you will need to restart your island town.
What to do:
You need to format and erase your entire Switch console to completely get rid of the updates. You will lose all your save files.
Steps:
1. Initialize the console. Go to...
Home menu
System settings
System
Formatting Options
Initialize Console
When initializing the console, it doesn't really matter if you are connected to the internet or not. If you do connect to the internet during initialzing, the game updates will be automatically downloaded again when you first start the console.
2. DELETE the updates BEFORE you start the game again. Go to
System Settings
Data Management
Manage Software
3. Turn off automatic updates. Go to
System Settings
System
Auto-Update Software - turn it off
4. Start Animal Crossing. The console will tell you there is an update. DO NOT do the update. Just start the software. If you accidentally start downloading the update you can quickly cancel it.
5. Enjoy. The game should run on version 1.0
