Horse bursts out of stall and Runs off track at Southwell Racecourse

Formidable Flame (very well named!!) burst out of the stalls, smashed through the rails and into the public enclosure.

The horse, was due to run in the 3 p.m at Southwell., continued through the crowd before eventually being caught in the main betting ring.

Date: 1st April, 1997
Heron Maiden Handicap Class E

Formidable Flame was withdrawn not under starter's orders. The price at the time of withdrawal was 9-1

The race was eventually won by 12/1 shot Happy Drive.
